Anxiety

We all experience some anxiety at different times in our lives. If you have anxiety symptoms such as fear and worry that interfere with your ability to function effectively, we have evidence-based treatments including psychotherapy and medication management at Pegasus Psychiatry.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder typically characterized by inattention, impulsivity, disorganization, hyperactivity, and difficulty with planning, organizing, and time management. At Pegasus Psychiatry, we treat ADHD with psychotherapy and/or medication.

Bipolar disorder

Bipolar disorder is characterized by periods of depression and periods of intensely elevated mood. These periods can last anywhere from days to weeks to months. If you are experiencing symptoms of bipolar disorder, Pegasus Psychiatry can help with both medication management and psychotherapy.

Depression

If you are experiencing symptoms of sadness and/or decreased interest in pleasurable activities and have other accompanying symptoms such as feelings of hopelessness/helplessness, decreased energy and disruption of sleep and appetite for more than two weeks, you may have depression. Pegasus Psychiatry offers treatment including medication management and psychotherapy.

Eating Disorders

Eating disorders (Binge Eating, Bulimia and Anorexia) are associated with a severe disturbance in eating patterns, and thoughts and behaviors related to food consumption. Pegasus Psychiatry offers compassionate and individualized treatment for eating disorders that includes a combination of psychotherapy, medication management, and meal support.

Existential concerns

Existential concerns refer to feelings of despair based on a belief that life is futile or without meaning and are usually triggered if you have suffered a major loss. If you are experiencing these concerns, contact Pegasus Psychiatry for help.

Grief and Bereavement

Grief is our personal response to loss. Bereavement is the period after a loss when grieving occurs. Contact Pegasus Psychiatry for help if you are having difficulty returning to a level of functioning prior to a loss or struggling to find meaning and purpose in life.

Interpersonal difficulties and challenges

If you are experiencing interpersonal difficulties and challenges in your relationships with others, such as repeatedly finding yourself in relationships or jobs that turn sour and/or have difficulty trusting others or engaging in intimate relationships, Pegasus Psychiatry can help.

LGBTQ+ Mental Health

Pegasus Psychiatry recognizes that there is a continuum of possibilities of expression of both gender identity and sexual orientation. Creating an affirming and accepting environment for all patients to address concerns regarding both gender and sexuality is a core value.

Men's Mental Health

While mental illness affects all people, men are less likely to seek treatment. Pegasus Psychiatry can help if you are having problems commonly experienced by men which may include anger management, sleep problems, poor concentration, excess worrying, and changes in sex drive or ability to have sex.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is characterized by obsessions (persistent, intrusive, and upsetting thoughts) and compulsions (behaviors that people are driven to perform repeatedly to reduce anxiety related to their obsessions). Pegasus Psychiatry offers psychotherapy and medication for the treatment of OCD.

Relationships (problems with communication or intimacy)

Pegasus Psychiatry offers couples and family therapy which focus on relationships and address ways to improve communication, manage disagreements, and move toward greater trust and intimacy. These therapies can help when couples or families find themselves stuck in counterproductive communication and behaviors.

Self-Defeating Behaviors

Self-defeating behaviors undermine our sense of purpose and fulfillment of goals, causing us to feel depleted, frustrated, and forlorn. Psychotherapy at Pegasus Psychiatry can help you with self-defeating behaviors such as perfectionism, unrelenting self-criticism, procrastination, social withdrawal, self-pity, sabotaging relationships, and constant comparisons with others.

Self-Esteem Problems

Sleep Problems

Trauma

Trauma occurs when we experience or observe an event (an assault, accident, injury, or serious medical illness) where there is actual or threatened bodily injury or death to ourselves or someone else. Pegasus Psychiatry provides trauma-informed care to address symptoms related to traumatic event(s).

Women’s Mental Health

Women may experience psychiatric illness differently than men, and the prevalence of some psychiatric illnesses such as depression are higher in women. Pegasus Psychiatry is committed to helping women with gender-specific problems such as Postpartum Depression, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and menopause-related mood or anxiety problems.
